Engineering Leadership Program
While employed at General Dynamics, I was part of the Engineering Leadership Program (ELP). The program develops new hires by rotating them through departments, exposing them to the responsibilities which accompany leadership positions, and having them execute two of their own small projects; all while obtaining a Masters degree.
Work History
NWS - Mechanical Engineering
I started my career at General Dynamics by being hired into the Engineering Leadership Program (ELP) and my first position was as a Mechanical Engineer for the Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) program. My responsibilities included redlining drawings, addressing problem reports, and managing a GFI data transfer.
Air Force Guidance IR&D
After 6 months in NWS, I elected to rotate to the Air Force Guidance IR&D group. There I developed Navigation algorithms for inertial guidance systems in MatLab and worked with a software engineer to get them implemented on a test bed.
NWS - Systems Engineering
After 7 months in AF Guidance, I rotated back to NWS but as a systems engineer. My primary responsibility was developing a concept for overhauling a fiber infrastructure in a secure facility. Working with field engineers, we conducted surveys of the facility, determined what we could and could not re-use, worked that all into a Concept Review, and presented to the customer.
Gateway - Mechanical Engineering
About a year into my NWS Systems Engineering position, I moved to New Jersey and transferred to the Florham Park location to work on a program called Gateway. I designed basic test-bed components and manufactured them on our in-house CNC milling machine. Additionally, I conducted thermal testing on electro-optical equipment as well as a vibrational spectrum analysis to identify system modes.
GCLM - I&T Lead and Product Owner
GCLM was a technology development program to demonstrate a novel capability. My prior experience working in the AF Guidance group came in handy here as I contributed thousands of lines of C++ in order to control the attitude of a > 12 DOF positioning system
Regulus - Deputy Program Manager For Engineers
I was brought onto the Regulus program as a Deputy Program Manager for Engineers (DPME) to improve the engineering vigor of the program. The Regulus team was small, so this ended up being a multifaceted position: mechanical design, system engineering, software development, program management, customer interface, etc.
Seahawk II - Mechanical Design Lead
Seahawk II was a rapid-development program and I served as the Mechanical Design Lead for the job. In this capacity, I lead a team of 5 mechanical engineers from concept development through production and integration over a 15 month PoP by leveraging rapid prototyping and iterative design.
